Money & Family

Is it a myth or is it real that a person’s success is measured by wealth.

It’s ironic when there is a family gathering somehow the question of what you’re doing now or how much you’re earning or a more subtle way might be someone popping out to say “I just got a new car or I just got a new house”. Then the rest will go like wow how much and blah blah blah… The song has just begun and now everyone will try to out do the other…

Is it really necessary to try to show off how much you have or earn… Does it mean if I am poor I am less a human… Does it mean if I am poor I am not fit to live in this world… What saddens me most is sometimes it’s the immediate family that starts comparing… It goes like you see how much your cousin is earning, how much your brother is earning, how much your sister is earning, look at their assets… And in walks a visitor and the conversation suddenly becomes about me… It starts off like my eldest son is doing well my daughter too but my youngest son… Ah he’s a dumb nut… Useless and disappointing… Earn a small salary drives an old junk and always poor… I wonder if they  actually considers the person’s pride and feelings… I am glad Lynn never made money one of her criteria…

I remember something from the movie I saw last night Marley and me… Owen Wilson said… What so great about a dog… Why is it a man’s best friend…? It’s because a dog don’t care if you’re rich or poor… A dog don’t care if you have a castle or just a simple home… You give him your heart and he give you his… Simple as that…

I remember when I had my dog… Whenever I took him out he’ll look at me with adoring eyes… never bothered if I have a junk for a car or a Rolls Royce… Only thing he cared about was spending time with me…
